Mystique uses state of the art spray guns to apply an even, natural bronzing agent to your skin. Clients choose the darkness of their tan. Spray tanning takes approximately five minutes to complete.
Tips for Spray Tans
“We get a lot of questions from people who ask what they need to do before we come to them to give them a spray on tan. It’s actually al pretty easy, so don’t stress. Just follow these simple guidelines pre spray tan.” Preparing before your spray tanning session is crucial. Following the steps below will help ensure you get an even tan and will maximize the life of tan.
- Always exfoliate or wax or shave at least 8 hours prior to a spray tan application. Shaving immediately afterwards can cause the tan to flake off.
- Wear loose dark clothing, to reduce the materials & tight clothing damaging your tan. Also to preserve your tan, it is advisable to leave your bra off after tan application. DO NOT WEAR DENIM JEANS AT ALL. It is inevitable that some of the tanning solution will come off on your clothes, and although it usually washes out, it will give your secret away! Black is always a safe bet.
- Attend your appointment freshly showered and no moisturizers. Do not moisturize before your spray tan as the moisturizer acts as a barrier and the tan will not penetrate into your skin properly
- No deodorants or perfumes. The chemicals in these products may interfere with the tanning solution.
- No make-up at all. As all these act as a barrier & will stop the tan getting through to your skin.
- Exfoliate 8 hours prior to your appointment to achieve best coverage. Exfoliate. The day before you plan to get your spray tan, exfoliate away dead skin cells. These dry and rough patches will take on more color than the rest of your skin, leaving you looking blotchy rather than glowing. Use a loofah or a similar exfoliating tool, focusing on your elbows, knees, and feet
- Avoid any strenuous exercise, or anything that may cause you to perspire, as your tan will come off in the areas where you sweat.
- Try to also avoid cooking over an open frying pan or stove, as the steam will also affect your tan in the first 8 hours.
- When driving after Spray Tan application, try to place seatbelt underneath the arm, so as not to rub the tan from the neck area.
- Prepare for weather conditions, you don't want to get wet immediately after your tan, before it has set properly. So If it's raining bring an umbrella and wear a long, loose dress home and if it's hot make sure you are heading into cool conditions so you don't sweat your spray tan off
- Do not shower for at least 6-8 hours after your tan application, as tan needs time to develop. Mystique Tanning spray tan is an organic product & reacts with the PH levels in your skin, & can keep developing for up to 24 hours, the longer you leave it on, the darker your tan will be. During your shower you will see the excess colour go down the drain don't be alarmed the product has now processed on your skin
- After your tan has developed, shower as usual & apply Tan extender (ask your profe

How do I make the most of my spray tan?
To obtain the most natural and long lasting tan, Mystique has devised a three step plan to make the most of your spray tan.
- Step 1 Exfoliation We recommend that you take a shower before receiving a spray tan; use a buffed exfoliating body scrub and remove all make up and deodorants. This ensures an even foundation for your spray tan.
- Step 2 Application Prior to application, remove all jewelry. Our technicians will identify your skin type to apply our bronzer accordingly.
- Step 3 After Care Wear loose dark clothing to your spray tanning appointment. We recommend that you allow the spray to set in for four to six hours after application. Do not participate in strenuous activities that cause perspiration and avoid showering during this period.
